A shared commitment to enhancing community spaces has resulted in a meaningful upgrade to the Guille-Allès Library, where eight self-study desks have been installed to provide a quiet and focused environment for users. The initiative was made possible through a collaboration between Polygon Collective and Integrated Group, with both organisations working together to facilitate the donation, delivery, and installation of the desks at no cost to the library.
Recognising the growing need for dedicated study spaces, particularly for students, the two organisations joined forces to bring a practical solution to the library. The pods offer a private, structured environment that encourages focus and productivity, making them a valuable resource for anyone needing a distraction-free study space.
Martin Belcher, Chairman of Polygon Collective, emphasised the importance of businesses supporting local institutions:
“This project is a testament to what can be achieved when businesses collaborate for the greater good. The Guille-Allès Library plays a crucial role in the community, and by working together, we were able to enhance its facilities in a way that will benefit students, and lifelong learners for years to come.”
The donation process involved close coordination between the two organisations to ensure a seamless transition from concept to completion. From identifying the need for improved study spaces to handling logistics and installation, the effort was a true partnership aimed at enriching the library’s offerings.
Darren Etasse, Managing Director of Integrated Group, highlighted the spirit of cooperation that made the project possible:
“We saw an opportunity to make a real difference by pooling our resources and expertise. It wasn’t just about donating equipment—it was about ensuring that these desks were properly integrated into the library’s environment to maximise their impact. It’s great to see local businesses coming together to support an institution that serves so many people.”
Chris Jordan, Head of Operations at the Guille-Allès Library, said:
“This donation is a fantastic boost for the Library and our users. The new desks provide a comfortable, distraction-free environment for anyone needing to focus, and they’re already making a real difference to the great many people who come to the Library to study, revise, and work quietly. In 2025 we are beginning a major upgrade of our study facilities – the Hayward Room, our main study space, is undergoing a complete refurbishment thanks to the support of the Social Investment Fund and the John Ramplin Trust, and we’re hoping to introduce even more high-quality study furniture in the near future. This donation is the perfect way to kickstart that process, and we’re extremely grateful to Polygon Collective and Integrated Group for helping us to continue to evolve as a learning and community hub.”
Manufactured using 60% recycled PET material, these desks align with modern sustainability standards and provide an environmentally conscious solution. The installation at Guille-Allès Library highlights a forward-thinking approach to study spaces, ensuring users have access to high-quality, ergonomic, and distraction-free study environments.
